Surbhi Prapanna is a homoeopathic doctor, who is also exploring her creative side via her blog.

Today she shares her tips on how to schedule your day as a mom blogger. She has two beautiful daughters and has decided to prioritize motherhood over her career.

Working part-time she still manages to make time for her blog and earns a decent income.

How long have you been Blogging?

I had started blogging 4 years ago, just as a hobby. It was the time when we moved from India to the USA. During this time, I had gotten a chance to read and explore some amazing parenting blogs.

While reading the experience of other moms, I got impressed and then inspired to start my own blog too. Now, with 4 years of amazing experience blogging has become my passion and an important part of my life.

Craft Blog Topics you can easily rank for. I also have mom blog topics which are low keyword difficulty keywords.

My blog is a versatile combination of the different aspects of my personality. I would say, my blog is my personal creative space where I try to share different useful and informative content for my readers.

I am a homeopathic therapist by profession, so I always try to share my areas of expertise ( health, natural remedies, fitness etc) with my blog posts.

I am a creative person by nature, and I always plan different DIYs, and creative activities for my kids, and share these activities with my blog and video content.

Sharing useful and trustworthy information is the motto of my blog and I always work hard to keep my blog content informative and useful.

How did you decide on what to name your blog?

My first blog name was “Positive parenting”, and it was completely dedicated to sharing my parenting journey. I strongly believe in “Positive parenting principles” and this thing has inspired me to keep my blog name “Positive Parenting”.

Later on, when I had moved my blog to a self-hosting platform, I had done a kind of extension in the terms of content creation and other things, so I had named it “Surbhi”s crazy creative world”.

As the name suggested, my blog is a crazy and creative space where you will get a chance to explore different aspects of my personality.

Your Blog Categories / Main Topics – What is your Niche?

I am a lifestyle and parenting blogger. My main topics are parenting, health and kids art and crafts. I always try to write detail and useful content related to these categories.

I had shared some detailed health-related series like Diabetes awareness and Power of clean eating through my blog and got excellent response from readers.

Recently, I had published my first e-book “Creative kids” too, the book is an extension of “Kids arts and crafts category”, where I had shared 26 interesting art, crafts and DIYs projects for kids.

Why did you decide on the categories you chose?

As I had said earlier, my blog has a purpose to share my areas of expertise ( medical experience) and my motherhood journey. So I had decided health, parenting and kids art crafts as my favourite categories. and I would always try to share unique content related to these categories through my blog.

How do find topics to write about? Is it random, keyword research involved?

Honestly speaking, I rarely do keyword research or other technical things before writing or planning my content. I always write about topics that are based either on my expertise as a doctor or related to my motherhood or other personal experience.

But there is one factor that I always keep in mind while writing or planning my content and that is
“writing and sharing useful and informative content”.

I always double-check my topics as a reader point of view..and when I feel enough confident that topics are good and informative, I do in-depth research and include all possible trustworthy scientific data in my blog posts. this step gives me immense creative satisfaction that I had shared a quality content through my blog that will definitely help my readers.

What does your day look like? When do you write?

I usually wake up at 6.00 AM, after spending some quiet moments with my self.

I get engaged in completing my mothering and household responsibilities ( cooking and sending kids to school and other routine household stuff).

After that, I do my morning walk or yoga ( depends on my mood).

After that, my precious “Me time”, starts that I completely devote to my blog.

During this 4-5 hour of time, I do different blog-related activities write content for my blog, social media activities and apply for sponsored posts.

I stop all professional and blog related work at 3 P.M and again get busy in mothering responsibilities.

I prepare something healthy and interesting evening snacks, and when kids come back to home, we spend some quality together ( with snacking and school-related conversation).

Evening time is completely a “Family time” that we try to spend together as a family.

Kids homework, dinner and evening walk are some usual activities that keep me engage up to the night.

Before sleeping, I always do some pre-planning for the next day for a smooth and hassle-free routine.

What does your publishing schedule look like? Do you publish every day?

My publishing schedule totally depends on the time that I get for myself after completing household and motherhood responsibilities.

During smooth and fixed weekday routines, I publish 2 posts in a week. Sometimes, with over-busy schedule, I would be able to publish only one post per week.

How are you able to manage family, blog, work, friends?

I would say it is all about time management and planning your day properly. I always prioritize my different responsibilities as a mother, as a wife and as a blogger. and plan my day accordingly.

For me, it is always about maintaining a balance between my personal, professional and social life.

Using a planner or make a to-do list are some other important steps that help me in making a balance between different aspects of life.

Proper scheduling the day or week is the key thing that helps me in manage family, blog, work and friends.

How do promote your blog?

How much time goes in promotion versus writing? Is there a schedule?

Nowadays social media channels ( Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) are the most powerful digital medium and like all other bloggers, I also try to use the power of social media for promoting my blog.

As it has been said that “Content is king and marketing is queen”, and I apply this principle seriously while promoting and writing my content. though there is no fixed schedule, I try to keep it 50-50%.

Writing great quality, informative and unique content and then sharing it wisely all across the web, are two mandatory steps that create a strong foundation of a successful blog.

How much does your Blog earn?

I know earning from blogging is one of the interesting part that excites everyone.

I had taken this aspect of blogging seriously last year. I had done a consistent hard work with firm determination on my Instagram account and on the blog.

After a period of time, I had received offers from different brands for product reviews and sponsored posts.

If I would split of income, I would say it is maximum from products reviews.

I had done product reviews of different reputed brands ( of course related to my niche) and received free stuff from them.

I had also done sponsored posts in a timely manner and I usually charge 2000 rs for per blog post.

Before saying yes for a brand for a sponsored post, I always check their services, background, and trustworthiness. affiliate income and ads are the options, that I still need to explore properly.

In your opinion how should we fix our rate chart ( for sponsored posts, Social Media Posts etc)

Fixing your rate chart is depends on several factors and every blogger should keep some points in mind, before fixing their rate. in my opinion, it is a combination of different factors such as

  • Blog Traffic
  • Stats of Blog – DA
  • Social Media Reach
  • Number of Engaged Followers

If you have a decent combination of all these factors, then you could fix your rate chart accordingly and can get good sponsored posts opportunities. otherwise, it is hard to get economic benefits from a blog.

How many years does it take to make money?

Do you need a particular number of visits to make money?

It might sound little harsh, but I would like to be honest here. making money with blogging is not as easy as it seems. and it requires a consistent amount of hard work with firm determination to earn something from your blog.

Of course, start a blog is the first and easy step that anyone can do in few hours but making a successful blog and earning from a blog is a kind of long journey that requires a proper pre-planning and execution.

I would like to share some key steps that help in making a successful blog.

First, find your niche, it is very important to select a niche, and then share some useful, unique, and informative content related to your niche. content creation is an art and it is very important to add some USP or unique personality factor to your content, otherwise, it is very easy to get lost in this overcrowded and competitive field.

After content creation, building an audience is the next important step that helps in making traffic generation for your blog.

Find out the people who would be interested in your content and pay proper attention to your target audience.

Try to be practical in your approach and learn about their common problems or questions. and plan your content to keep their problems in mind.

if your target audience finds your content useful, then it is the first step that your blog is getting popular.

Use the power of social media wisely and build a strong social media presence by sharing useful content and by maintaining a proper interaction with your readers.

When you pass all these steps successfully and reach a stage when you had a decent amount of followers and social media presence, then you can expect an earning from your blog.

I do not feel that it requires a fixed number of years or a fixed number of visitors to your blog.

It is more about building an engaged audience that trusts you.

When you have that brands will approach you automatically and you can earn a handsome amount of money with your blog.
