Target Market for Natural Skin Care Products
Most people start promoting their products without developing a strategy. A plan of action will simplify and streamline the process. It makes it easier to connect with the right customer.
Before making a plan, we need to figure out who the right customer is.
This is purely my opinion but nowadays customers are well informed and are totally in control. They know exactly what they want, they spend a LOT of time and energy researching products.
They are health conscious and most understand the reasons why they should pay attention to their skin and well being.
You can say our customer is empowered and you want to make her feel empowered.
She wants to know what she puts on or in her body. She wants to understand the ingredients, she wants to know the benefits.
Build a profile of your ideal customer.
- How old is she?
- Does she have a particular skin issue ( acne, dry skin, ageing) ?
- What is her income?
- Is she working?
- Does she attend events? Does she shop online?
- What else does she like ( which could be your supplementary skin care product). For example your customer wants soaps but she also might be interested in shampoos, body scrubs.
Having a picture of your customer can help formulate the best marketing strategy. Spend some time in figuring out your ideal customer.
I do understand you might be the only person in your company. That is totally okay. Just grab a pen and paper and imagine up your ideal customer.
You know your product, it has been made for a specific purpose. Just tie that to a customer.
As an example if you are making products for oily skin, you could peg an age bracket as between females between the ages 18 to 25. Maybe she is a student or has just started work. She might have an annual income of $25000 or INR 2 lakhs.
These bits and pieces of information will help you understand how much she is willing to spend on a skin care product.

How to Sell Beauty Products to Clients
Selling is all about networking and making connections. Irrespective of how big or small you are, unless you can connect with your customer, you will never make a sale.
You can have the best products but unless you communicate the features to your Client, it will remain on the shelf.
So how do you sell beauty products to clients? You are not selling the soap, you are selling the idea of how the soap is good for your client.
You are educating the client on the benefits of your product which will solve the issues the client has.

How to Market Beauty Products on Social Media
Social Media can never get too saturated. Initially I was hesitant to use Social Media after having noticed big accounts with tons of followers.
I was feeling overwhelmed and decided rather foolishly that maybe I was late for Social Media.
After having used social media for a while I feel it has huge untapped potential. I have small channels in Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
They are nothing compared to the big guys… but I still generate sales using these small platforms.
The Basic Marketing Plan for Cosmetic Products
The steps remain the same (almost). It really does not matter what platform you are on ( I am not including Pinterest here), the steps remain the same
Steps | What to Do |
Create a Business Account | Create a Business account on any Social Media of Choice. |
Optimise the Page | Select the right category for your page ( Beauty). Update your page Bio and add in links to your website and Sales Page. |
Add Content | Publish content on the page regularly. Content includes short posts, accompanied by images. Tag pictures with location and your brand. Geotagging helps show posts to people in your location and also ranks in Google. |
Grow the Page | Use hashtags to get more visibility. Run contests and giveaways. Collaborate and team up with other bloggers and influencers. |
Skin Care Marketing Strategy
Your skin care marketing strategy can be as complex as you want. I have heard of people using multiple platforms to promote their products.
Then there are others who focus entirely on a Single platform. This could be just their blog where they posts often and just focus on creating stunning content which gets them visibility. Some use ONLY Instagram or Facebook for their marketing needs. There is no right or wrong way, just use what works for you.
Type of Content | What to Do |
Written | Write long blog posts and articles on any platform including * benefits * how to use * how the product is produced * behind the scenes of creating the product |
Podcasts | Create a Podcast and share your tips |
Videos | Create and share videos about the product(s), how to use, what the ingredients are, the benefits. Youtube is a good channel to use. |
Images | USe images to convey the benefits of the products. You can use images to generate visitors * Create infographics * Create tips * Create how-to images * Show swatches |
