Business Coach India : Interview with Shreya Pawar

What does a Business Coach do? A Business coach can help you take your idea of a business to fruition. She can help you with forming a viable business plan, launching your business and working out all the needed daily technicalities of the business.

Shreya is a Business Coach and before we dive into her interview, let me share a few things about her. Shreya started a business of her own, and soon learnt that she would have been able to pull it off quickly if only she had the right guidance.

She realized there are many areas which no one talks about. She then started helping entrepreneurs to get started with their business. Lets get started with Interviewing Shreya.

I’m Shreya. I am a full time entrepreneur and an army wife
I work as a business coach for Indian women who wish to launch a business which suits their lifestyle.

I am super enthusiastic about startups, entrepreneurship and building creative businesses.

Can you tell us about your products?

I offer multiple services and digital products. I have recently launched an online course – Dream Biz Discovery to help Indian women identify a suitable business idea for themselves and how to validate it.

I also have a quarterly “Done-For-You Social Media Content Planner & Graphics Set” which is ready to use guide to what to post each day on social media along with ready to use graphics.

I also provide one – on – one coaching service and work as an advisor.

Why did you get started as a Business Coach? How long have you been at it?

I have been an entrepreneur for more than 6 years now. I had started my first venture, Burst of Happyness in 2012 which runs till date. I have been providing business coaching since the last 2 years.

Do you have a daily schedule? Do you have someone to help you? How many hours per day do you spend on your business?

My schedule is extremely varied as it depends upon my classes, coaching sessions and the demands of both my business ventures.

I am a strong advocate of delegating work and work with content writers, social media managers. I also hire freelance help as and when required.

I also believe that it is essential to also have someone to help you on the home front. So I ensure that I have adequate help to manage chores around the house which would have been extremely time consuming for me.

What motivates you to keep working on it? Do you feel like giving up? How do you push through?

Honestly, the feedback and testimonials that I receive from my customers keeps me motivated. It’s the thought of making a positive difference in someone’s life.

Yes sometimes work is overwhelming but I generally take a small break and take time to think. I work on trying to identify the cause of the overwhelm and then create an action plan to over come it.

How do you balance Family and Business?

It is easy to balance both when your spouse and parents support you.
I ensure that I keep my working hours restricted to when my husband is at work so that we get ample free time together. I also ensure that my weekends are absolutely free.

If you were to start again what would you do differently?

If I could go back in time, I would start delegating and hiring a team right from the beginning so as to save up all the hours I spent in trial and error.

About your Business

Do you need any specific skills or equipment for such a business?

Well yes to an extent. Marketing is an essential skill required for both my businesses and most importantly an ability to judge what your customer requires so that you can deliver accordingly

How did you learn how to brand your products?

I have studied marketing and branding in my PGDM and MBA plus I have prior work experience of working with startups.

I too teach marketing and branding in my coaching program as it is an essential part of running a business.

Do you earn from your business?

Yes  my business is extremely rewarding   and hence I pursue it full time. Earnings vary monthly coz business is all about ups and down but annually I hit a 7 figure income.

How do you price your products?

So when I first started, I followed a simple
  cost + markup pricing  but that did not work for me.

So now I follow
  a more competitive pricing . It is also a good practice to judge the sentiment of your customers towards price and factor that in.

How much money do you spend on your business? What was your initial investment?

To start BOH, my approximate cost was around
  5 lakhs and for my coaching service it was about a 1lakh.

Any tips for people getting started with such a business?

It is very important to build a business which is unique to you and not try to ape someone else’s model. So try to be different from what’s already available in the market.

Also, always test and validate your business idea before you jump straight into it.
